Woody Point was settled before the rest of the peninsula and the housing still says so. Age shows at the top of the shell first
The pattern on an old Woody Point pool is consistent. The interior is rough and stained, the coping has lifted or cracked where the bond beam has moved, and the waterline tiles are drummy or missing. Renovating the surface alone on a pool like that is half a job, because the water finds the same path back in through the coping joint. Sloping sites and the access question
A pool halfway down a slope behind a 1950s house with a one metre side path is a hand barrow job. Every bag of material, every load of waste and every tile goes through by hand or over the fence with a crane. That is not a reason to avoid the work, it is a reason to get a quote from someone who has stood on the site. When the level drops on an old pool

On a sloping block the water disappears into the hill and you never see a wet patch, so the only symptom is a level that falls faster than evaporation explains. Is a fifty year old pool worth renovating?
Usually yes. Older shells were built thick, and a full renovation on a sound structure costs far less than demolition and replacement. A renovator will tell you honestly if the shell has moved past saving. The cost guide sets out what each stage costs.
What if a machine cannot get to the pool?
Then the job is done by hand or lifted in, and it takes longer. It should be priced that way at the quote, which is why a site visit matters here more than in a flat suburb.
Does an old pool still have to meet current barrier rules?
