Samford Valley is acreage country, creek flats and hills, landscaped properties where the pool was designed as part of the garden rather than dropped into a corner of the yard. The pools out here are bigger than the suburban average, often with raised spas, beach entries, long runs of coping and a view they were positioned to catch. Two things follow from that. Machine access is usually excellent, because there is room to bring a truck and an excavator right up to the pool, which keeps the method simple and the labour component sensible. And the water supply is frequently rainwater tanks or a bore, which turns a routine drain and refill into a question that has to be planned rather than assumed.

The refill question
On a connected suburban block, refilling is a tap and a weekend. On tank or bore water it is not. A large pool can hold well over 60,000 litres, which is more than many household tanks carry, and emptying the tank to fill the pool is not a sensible trade in a dry spring. The realistic options are carted water, a staged refill, or timing the work around the wet season. Bore water adds a second issue, because it often carries iron and minerals that will stain a brand new interior within days if the water is not treated as it goes in. That is a conversation to have before the pool is drained, not after.
Where the budget goes on a bigger pool
Large pools cost more simply because there is more of everything, and premium finishes are common here. Guide pricing only, a premium quartz or glass bead interior typically runs roughly $12,000 to $22,000 and new coping around a large pool roughly $5,000 to $15,000. Good access tends to pull the labour side back the other way. The cost guide explains what drives each line.
Finishes worth the money out here
With a large pool in a landscaped setting, the interior finish is doing visual work as well as practical work. Glass bead and premium quartz hold colour, feel better underfoot and last longer than a budget pebble, which matters when the pool is the focal point of the garden. Coping and waterline tile selection is where a renovation either looks considered or looks patched. See resurfacing and tiling and coping.
Frequently asked questions
Can I refill from my tanks after a renovation?
Rarely from tanks alone on a large pool. Most owners here cart water in or stage the refill. Plan it before the drain-down and build the cost into the quote.
Will bore water stain a new surface?
It can, if it carries iron or high mineral content. Have the water tested and treated on the way in. A new interior is the worst possible time to find out.
Does good access actually reduce the price?
Yes, meaningfully. Being able to get a truck and a machine to the pool shell removes a great deal of hand labour compared with a tight suburban block.
